Hi folks, some good news!

SHIPPING UPDATE FOR US & CANADA 

The books have landed in the mainland United States, and are currently on their way through the clearance and transport process that will take them to our warehouse. We're hoping fulfillment will begin quickly once they've arrived and been checked over, so: we're going to lock down US and Canadian addresses in about 48 hours' time.  

Just to say that again: backers in the USA and in Canada, your addresses will lock down in about 48 hours, unless you have told us specifically that you want us to hold your parcel. Please log in to Backerkit now and make any changes there that you need. If you need us to hold your parcel for any reason, please get in touch with us at [email protected].  

MORE SHIPPING UPDATES FOR OTHER PEOPLE 

Folks waiting for replacements from the first batch of orders: Your replacements should ship from Spiral Galaxy this week! 

Mexican backers: Your books will be coming out from the UK in the next week or so! 

Brazilian backers: Your country is very hard to ship to! We are doing our best: your parcels are all on their way, but Brazilian customs is notorious for fines and issues, so if anything goes wrong please email me ([email protected]) so we can deal with it appropriately! 

Israeli backers: Your country is also proving challenging to ship to, but we hope your parcels will go out in the next few days once we have confirmed our customs paperwork!

Australian, New Zealander and Asian backers: We're going to be sending your parcels out from Aetherworks, to reduce the risk of damages and other issues. We're expecting this will take another 3-4 weeks from the books landing in the US, but we will keep you posted and try to reduce that time if we can.

LISTEN TO DIE

By which we mean: there’s a bunch of new or upcoming DIE RPG actual plays you can watch and/or listen to.

Cannibal Halfling have just finished their three-game playthrough (you can listen here from the start) and Fogo na Dungeon are doing one in Brazilian Portuguese.

My First Dungeon have gone all out with their AP. They’re up to episode four and it’s all good stuff - every character has their own theme tune, even! - so you should give it a listen from Session Zero. (Or Session One if you want to skip the character gen, but it’s worth a go.)

Fulfillment update, AP extravaganza

I have some news from Maz, our logistics expert, with regards to your books:

- UK, EU, Africa, South America and Middle East backers: you should be receiving shipping checks this week, and we expect most will go out on Friday with your books actually going in the post early next week as confirmations arrive. Orders with GM dice may ship a little later in the batch: our team is doing quality checks on the boxes before they depart as we've seen some issues with the glue strips and we don't want your first experience of the dice to be a broken box.

- The rest of the books will be arriving at port in the US on or around May 14, and from there we expect it to take another one to two weeks to clear customs and make the road trip to our warehouse in Tennessee. So, for folks in the US and Canada, we'll wait until we have confirmation the books have disembarked safely and will then lock addresses so the team can get everything ready to go as soon as the boat's landed.

- Folks in Central America and the Caribbean: because of the long boat trip, we will likely get your parcels sent out in a second tranche from the UK, departing 2-3 weeks after the first batch have gone. That will also catch late pre-orders. Your addresses will lock in couple of weeks, with 48 hours notice so you can change them if you need to.

- Folks in Australia, New Zealand and Asia: we are discussing direct fulfillment with Aetherworks, but if that doesn't pan out, your books will go out from the US. We'll update you once we have the details confirmed, but assume we will also lock your addresses around May 14.

While we've got you, My First Dungeon are in the process of running an actual play campaign of DIE, and they've pulled out all the stops. We're GETTING there. Books are being ferried across this great globe of ours towards you as we speak.

In fact, backers in the UK, Europe, Africa, and South America should keep an eye pointed at their inboxes because our distributor is due to send out address confirmation emails soon. You don't have to do anything with the email at all assuming they're confirming the correct address - if not, get in touch.

March Update (BOOK'S HERE. BOOK'S HERE!)

Hello! We got proofs through of the standard and special editions of the DIE RPG this very morning. Wrap your peepers around these:

Nice, right? We're really glad it all worked out. Not gonna lie: we've had so many challenges through this process I was convinced the proofs were going to arrive on fire. But we're good! Look!

Without further ado, here's some fulfilment updates from Maz:

- We're going to ship a large number of these books to the US and a large number of them to the UK. (Currently they're in Latvia. Aside from the one I photographed; that one's in Sheffield.)

- UK, European, southern American & African backers: we intend to start shipping in early April, so please check your addresses now; we will lock them in one (1) week.

- If you're changing your address shortly please email us at [email protected] and we will hold your parcel till you're ready to receive it.

- US, CA and APAC folks: books are scheduled to take 5-6 weeks to make the trip door to door to Tennessee, but stuff can happen in transit and especially at customs; we will keep you informed.

OTHER THINGS

- Non-DIE orders are still going out in batches; you should receive shipping notifications when these ship out. We're expecting the bulk of these to be finished by end of next week; if in doubt email us directly at [email protected].

- We had some issues with Backerkit support emails not reaching us due to some over-powerful filtration, so if you've tried with them and had no luck, please get in touch with us directly

- US GM screens are currently being held in customs, but should be out well before the books arrive.

February Update

Hi folks,

It’s been a tricky and frustrating few weeks. The bad news first: we’ve run into several more issues with material supplies and logistics, which mean it’s likely that we won’t be able to start shipping out orders for another four weeks or so from our last estimate.

Realistically, that means it’ll likely be April by the time folks in the UK and US begin receiving parcels, and May for everyone else.

The long version of why this has happened is fairly complicated, and relates to the supply lines for multiple different components for the books. Last time, we talked about how Covid-related issues were affecting our ability to source the right paper for our books - as a small publisher, even when we buy paper from places that aren’t affected directly by shutdowns, when the supply chain as a whole is affected, it can mean supplies we thought were reserved for us suddenly aren’t where we expected them to be. This can also happen with other materials, on very short notice - which is what happened to the bookcloth for our slipcases, as well as the special double-width ribbons we want to include in every book. We’ve also run into some challenges with the boxes for our dice sets, especially the Grandmaster ones, which were less robust than we were happy with.

In some of these areas, we did have a choice between using inferior materials (e.g. a grey cloth rather than a deep black or a thin ribbon rather than the double width one) and fulfilling quicker or waiting for the better material we want. We've decided that it's better to wait rather than release something whose quality we would be unhappy with providing you.

The good news is that we do now have new supplies secured for everything that has previously been challenging, and that the delays are measured in weeks rather than months. In addition, we’re getting new dice boxes and repacking all the GM dice sets, as well as laying in some stocks of replacements just in case there are any issues with the resin sets as they’re delivered.

Plus! The GM screens are on the move from Estonia to the US, and the stocks for the UK have already landed. We’ve reviewed all the proofs for the books themselves and approved printing for the internals and the standard edition covers - and if it looks like there will be any further delays to the special editions, we will get the standard books on their way separately, so that we can start to get parcels out to all of you.

And for orders containing non-Die products - those have started to ship out already. US and Canadian parcels will begin to go out in the next week or so, and most others should have already shipped.

We’re really sorry about the continued, additional delays; the knock-on effects of the issues we had just before Christmas have really hit the process very hard, and we’re as frustrated as we imagine you are by the extra wait. We won’t be starting any other crowdfunding projects until this is complete and the books are in your hands; in the meantime, if you have questions about your orders, or if the delay is too much for you, please get in touch with us at [email protected] so we can do our best to help.
