Latest Updates from Our Project:

Outrageously close to completion
over 1 year ago – Mon, Oct 10, 2022 at 03:35:52 AM

We've just had Will's last editing pass over the manuscript (delivered ahead of schedule, thanks Will, you're a class act) and Lone is making the final changes required to the PDF. As keen-eyed readers will have clocked, Kieron's taken his last pass over the document too and tweeted out a bunch of his jokes that made it through the rigorous editing passes.

So: we're very close to getting a PDF into your hands. (Onto your eyes? I dunno.) Please enjoy several more screenshots of the PDF as a sort of proof-of-life:

Right. That's all for now. PDF soon.

Lots of love,

September Update
over 1 year ago – Sun, Sep 25, 2022 at 10:57:12 PM

Hello folks,

Some news from our production team:

  • We're doing a extra proof pass to make sure things are consistent, clear and as mistake-free as possible.  Please enjoy these pretty images of layout, specifically the Emotion Knight's class pages:
  • The book is now 400 pages, not 300. This has caused some issues.
  • Delivery time now looking at mid-October, not mid-late September. We'll keep you updated on physical delivery dates, but these are likely to be pushed back. This is due to both the extra work to make the book as good as it can be, and the extra paper we need to source to make it longer.
  • Production on Dice, Coins and GM Screen has started!  If you signed up to the waitlist, we'll be getting in touch to upgrade you on BackerKit (Sign up here if you haven't yet!)

August Update
over 1 year ago – Thu, Aug 18, 2022 at 02:26:54 AM

Lots of news since we got back from the states, so strap in:

LAYOUT

We're getting there! We want the book to be absolutely gorgeous so we're taking multiple passes at it. Please enjoy these nice spreads taken from Lone's work-in-progress:

We've also received the intro comic, which sets up the "story" of the new iconic paragons in the DIE RPG - a drama club reunion. Kind of fun to be able to just commission more DIE from the author and the artist, not gonna lie. Here's a snippet:

DIE! And then it's the big splash title page

 MORE GRANDMASTER DICE?

Look: we didn't expect the fancy holographic dice to be so popular, and for that, we were fools. After a chat with the folks at Level Up Dice, we're looking into securing more raw materials and production time to make a few more sets.

You also get a pretty holographic D6, but rules-as-written the Fool has to use the worst D6 you find, so we put one in

If you're interested in picking up a set of Grandmaster dice in holographic glass and obisidian, you can sign up to the waitlist here. There's no guarantees at present so this solely registering interest, but it'll let you get your name on the list if you'd like to have a bunch of ridiculously pretty dice.

NEW, FATTER COINS

We ordered some prototype Fair Gold coins from Campaign Coins, and: they just weren't big enough. They felt a bit skinny and insubstantial, and seeing as Fair Gold can magically draw people to it by feeling better than whatever it is they most desire, we thought that the physical version deserved to live up to that promise. Nothing against Campaign Coins, you understand: we ordered coins that were too thin.

So! We ordered some more. (Pictured on the right, above.) These ones are 3mm wider and 1mm thicker, which (because of "physics") doubles the weight of each coin. And they're perfect, now. They have an excellent heft to them, and they make a nice "ting" noise when you flick them with your thumb.

(It's higher-pitched than that, but you get the idea.) This means that there are about twenty official counterfeit Fair Gold coins in existence, and once this RPG replaces Dungeons and Dragons, we can sell them for thousands of dollars each as items of massive cultural relevance. Probably.

RETAILERS!

We have a mailing list for retailers now - please sign up to that if you'd like information about our newest products and a direct line to order them at reduced rates. Here's the link.
There's also a special retail-only tier in the DIE RPG pre-order store (scroll all the way down to the bottom, you'll find it) which lets you pick up five hardcovers for DIE for £120 and also asks a few bonus questions which will let you order additional stuff in bulk if you'd like.

We're setting up deals with the following distributors to make it easier to get your hands on our stuff:

- Diamond for UK and US comic stores

- Studio 2 Publishing consolidating in the US, which allows purchase through Alliance and BNW

- Indie Press Revolution, also in the US

- Aetherworx in APAC

- Asmodee in the UK and, potentially, EU

TIMELINE UPDATE

We're currently looking to release the PDF to backers in mid- to late-September. Once the PDF is released we'll lock orders and charge cards through Backerkit and distribute the document through their digital downloads service. We'll warn you via an update a couple of days beforehand so you'll have a chance to make sure your details are correct on the pledge manager.

The Pre-Order store will stay open until we go to print on DIE. You'll be able to put in new orders until then, and if your order has been locked and your card has been charged we're still able to modify it but you'll have to get in touch ([email protected]) so we can do it manually on the backend.

Once we've locked orders and addresses, we'll ship out any non-DIE products to those backers (so if you added Spire or Heart to your order, for example, you'll get a copy of that as soon as possible). DIE products will follow later once we can confirm the final production schedule.

That's everything for now. More as and when we know it.

Backerkit is live!
over 1 year ago – Sat, Jul 30, 2022 at 12:07:25 AM

BACKERKIT LIVE

We've just now sent out invites to the Backerkit pledge manager to all backers. You should receive one soon - if you haven't, check your spam filter, or go to the DIE RPG Backerkit page directly and log in to complete your pledge. And if THAT doesn't work, send an email to [email protected] and we'll do what we can to help you out.

In the pledge manager, you'll be able to add items to your pledge, and we have a fine array of things for you to add: dice, GM screens, fair gold coins, art prints, and a selection of our best RRD books such as critically-acclaimed Spire: the City Must Fall or the seven-time ENnie award winning Heart: the City Beneath. Feel free to share the link to the pre-order store with your wealthiest and most generous friends.

YEE HAW PARDNER, WE'RE OFF TO THE U S OF A

In other news, Rowan Rook and Decard are going to Gen Con in Indiana, which means that we'll all be out of the office to a greater or lesser extent for the next two weeks. So: please be patient while we try to conquer the Americas. We'll do our best to help you out when we can.

And come say hello if you're around! We're on stall 2755 in Hall G, nestled on the south-west edge of Entrepreneur's Avenue. I'll sign stuff. I'll sign stuff I haven't even written. I ain't picky.

Dice! Cards! An almost-ready pledge manager!
over 1 year ago – Fri, Jul 29, 2022 at 05:46:14 PM

Hello all,

Some brief news for you:

- We've had a lot of back and forth and a lot of fiddly details to sort out, but we're happy to announce that the Backerkit is nearly ready to go. So nearly ready to go, in fact, that several of you will be receiving test emails soon so we can make sure that the whole thing works without falling over. Once that's sorted and we can confirm that the site is usable (and we didn't accidentally put the wrong shipping values in) then we'll open it up to all of you - should be on Friday 29th, if everything goes to plan.

- Dice! Dice are here! Look at these beauties:

- Art cards, too! We went back and forth on which style to go for, but in the end we went for rainbow foil to better match the dice.  For some reason Zach decided to record this video whilst Chris and I were playing live through their speakers, so please do your best to ignore or enjoy us doing games design live on camera:

Right, that's everything. More soon.
